The Scarcity Mindset: Something Missing and Something Borrowed

He was charismatic and eloquent, and we, the beings on the planet understood there was something reasonable and rationale about the post-war version of ourselves.
Even if our attitudes and beliefs are informed by our values, and we have shared values with the other communities on the planet, the moments when there aren’t enough resources to go around are frustrating enough to make us forget that having that degree of overlap with those other people was amazing within itself. It was enough.
In the midst of a war-torn period though, we’re frustrated enough to forget. Or someone understands it, steps in front, and asks everyone to care a little more about what we could all gain from being stronger than the others during an era of scarcity.
It’s an idea connected to self-care and empathy for oneself that convinces us to make a bold move towards owning not just the land we live on, but also the land that we and our neighbors share.
After a sometimes negative karmic process of reducing your neighbors to nothing, cruelty feels like a non-karmic addiction to make sure it wasn’t all in vain, even if it does put the finishing touches on destroying your most of your lives and theirs by reforming everyone’s identity.
Is every war started during an era of scarcity, disease or famine a mistake?
Probably not. They all look sad though, the winners and the losers in every post-scarcity war photo I’ve ever seen. They all look like old friends who didn’t wish to apologize after that last terrible slight. They look like people who were pushed to the point of having just enough energy to think about themselves and those they’re responsible for, and somewhere in all that is where the trouble started. It’s where their attention turned either outwards to try and reclaim loss power, or completely inwards towards home until someone knocked on the door and handed them either a uniform or a petition against someone their family used to think highly of. Whether that someone survived or not, somehow, you still thought highly of them after that charismatic and eloquent leader stayed the same while everyone else came to their senses.
